Fruits & Vegetables: What's in Season?

As the year goes by and you’re shopping, you probably wonder why you see certain items in your produce section at some times of the year, but not the others. One thing I had to learn when I started cooking more is that you will find many items just aren’t in season. The good part about that is, there is always something that you can use to substitute your non-seasonal item. Another solid option that you have is to buy your produce frozen. Surprisingly enough, those items are harvested when at peak freshness and flash frozen. This means you are getting the most ripe vegetable or fruit that money can buy.

Here are the foods that are in season for the months of October and November:

  • Acorn Squash

  • Asian Pear

  • Belgian Endive
