There’s nothing better than having a couple of cocktails to offer your guests on one of the biggest cocktail nights of the year, New Years Eve! In the spirit of the holidays, I thought it would be great to use cranberries as the base to these drinks. Who said they only had to used for Thanksgiving? Not this chick here.
Cranberry Thyme Fizz
2 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
6oz seltzer water
2oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1 sprig of thyme
In a medium pot, bring water, sugar, cranberries, and thyme to boil over high heat.
Once the cranberries begin to burst, about 5 minutes, remove from heat. Let cool. Remove thyme from the pan.
When the cranberry mix has cooled, add a few spoonfuls of the cranberry mixture to your glass and muddle.
Add crushed ice to glass, then add in vodka and grapefruit juice. STIR! Then add a splash of seltzer water to the glass. Stir once.
Garnish with thyme sprig/lime wedge.
I promise that everyone at your party will be happy sipping this cocktail. It’s deliciously refreshing and a lot of fun at the same time. You can always eliminate the vodka and make this a non-alcoholic drink.
Another one of my favorite cranberry drinks is made by my Food Network favorite, Geoffrey Zakarian. The recipe for this ‘Cranberry Lemonade Punch’ is super simple with minimal ingredients, but packs a punch of flavor in every sip.
Cranberry Lemonade Punch
8 ounces cranberry juice
8 ounces sparkling lemonade
8 ounces vodka
4 ounces pineapple juice
1 cup frozen cranberries
Combine the cranberry juice, lemonade, vodka and pineapple juice in a pitcher filled with ice and stir. Divide among punch glasses and garnish with the frozen cranberries.
Like seriously, how easy is that? Once you take a sip of this, there is no turning back. The scary part is, you don’t even really taste the alcohol. So you’ll just be sipping and then you stand and it’s game over. LOL.
I hope that you are able to enjoy these cranberry cocktails. My toast to all of you is that you are able to enter this new year with an open heart and open mind. CHEERS!
